My Kuakata blog is now up..........

just completed my blog page on my recent tour to Kuakata...... you can have a look at it here...... Kuakata, July 2009

I've titled it "A Crying Landscape" because of the changing nature of the place in the wrong direction.....

this is a perfect example of life changing as a result of global warming and climate change....... Kuakata is at the forefront in this climatic war... a place of pristine landscape and unique lifestyle is getting endangered due to severe effects of climate change......

    Back from Kuakata................

it was another tour of this place that touched me........ just like the previous tours, I was constantly looking for the same things that I've seen...... why?..... because I wanted to measure change...... this is one part of the world that is undergoing some huge change...... and this change is what I was trying to document....

it was a great adventure...... some of us visited Kuakata several times; while others had their very first visit...... yet, it was a rewarding tour for everyone..... Shudipto did a wonderful job organising, even though it was his first visit there...... TTL once again proved to be a hub for passionate photographers.....

had been too busy all day to give updates...... but I hope I will be producing some stories within the next few days......

    Kuakata, here I come!!!

after 2006, 2007 and 2008, it would be my fourth visit to Kuakata in four years.... but all the previous tours had been individual tours..... this is the first time I'm traveling there with a group...... Flickr's TTL group has organised this "safari" and more than 20 clickers are hoping to set foot on this beautiful beach........

it would be a tough journey, expecting to be on the road for at least 10 hours...... and the last leg of the journey is supposed to be through a mine-field.... lets see how tough it becomes......

From Kuakata, Patuakhali, Bangladesh, July 2008

it would be morning when we reach Kuakata...... and hoping to see what the rainy season has in store for us..... I've always traveled there during the rainy season, and that what always waves at me......

life had been too hectic of late..... and was not sure about this tour until this evening..... just had to make sure that I didn't have any job stored for the weekend.......

    Solar Eclipse!!!

for the office-goers like me, we have to cut a deal with Nature...... my time with the sun was fixed to the minumum....... I woke up early to see the eclipse, but went to bed soon enough after seeing the amound of clouds lurking above...... woke up once again at my usual time and started to prepare myself to go to office...... thats the time I noticed that it was really murky...... I peeked through the window and could see the sun with my bare eyes, because clouds still dominated.......

    phenomenon............ [Solar Eclipse, Dhaka, Bangladesh]
100% solar eclipse was visible from Panchagarh, a norther district of Bangladesh........ but this is not something for the faint-hearted office-goers......... even if the next chance to see this never comes.......... had to be satisfied with something less........ 93% eclipse was visible from Dhaka....... that was enough of a phenomenon for the timid........

the moment came right then...... saw some birds flying around; in fact, circling.... rushed to fetch my cam...... it didn't really become an easy thing..... the birds were not really listening to me..... but when they did show up in the right place, the sun decided to hide behind the clouds...... so, I had to wait for some time to get the moment I want...... such moments don't really come at one's own will though...... so, had to accept whatever was on offer....

Time: 08:03 Bangladesh Standard Time (BST); 22 July 2009
    Place: Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Equipment: Nikon D90 + Sigma APO 150mm f2.8 EX DG HSM Macro.

    First try with desaturation..........

indoor portraiture is the place where I've been trying out a few things for some time...... this all started with the SB-600 that I bought some time back....... nowadays, this is one of my most regularly used accessories.......

I've always kept myself from "heavy" editing....... but slowly but surely, I'm trying out a few tricks with my indoor photography....... this was my first try with desaturation...... also added a bit of vignetting, which I used only once before....

now looking to get the flash off camera...... that would of course, require some more investment........ lets see where it goes.........

    Models: Proma & Lamisa

    Equipment: Nikon D700 + Nikkor AF 50mm f1.4D; Nikon D90 + Nikkor AF 85mm f1.8D; Nikon SB-600 bounced from the wall.

    Kuakata waving at me..........

started this blog to record some daily thoughts, ideas (they're bulletproof, aren't they??) and motions...... didn't really want such things to feature in my travel blog..... lets see, where it goes......

life has been very hectic...... at least, of late...... had been looking for a longish break for some time...... but work hasn't been kind to me..... just dreaming of the years before when I was running around the country with a camera.... it was such a great feeling to be under those monsoon clouds.....

looking forward to this weekend's venture to Kuakata...... yes, Kuakata once more.... this time, its not an individual venture.... TTL is arranging this....... so, it would be a completely different one......

landscape of baldness........... (Kuakata, Patuakhali, Bangladesh)

the weather had been pretty much what I don't want in this season...... lets just hope that some clouds gather and give us the badly-needed shade.... but we don't want a depression to embrace some rain though :)
