"Transient Emotions".... exclusive maternity photo-session offer

Pregnancy is one of the most unique and memorable time in a woman's life, but one of the shortest-lived. We are here to keep this time in memory. To make the session work best, we recommend a later stage of pregnancy, preferably 7-8 months, but not ignoring the safety and comfort of the would-be mother. We can also include husband and elder child(ren) (if any) in the session. Keep at least 3-4 hours for such a session, including an hour's time for the setup to complete and dismantle. Duration of the shoot can be negotiated depending on special circumstances and availability of time.
Checkout the maternity portrait examples here.

    Fees and Deliverables:

    Session Fee:
    BDT 25,000 /-
    a) One session with the above details. Its the time cost for the photography team along with cost of the studio setup and equipment.
    b) Session fee does not include products, which are described below.
    c) For other details, please see the "Location for the Shoot" section below.
    d) Also see the "Booking & Payment Procedure" section below.
    e) If the session is done at our Idea House home studio, session fee would be BDT 5,000/- less.

    Viewing Session:
This is a free session. Usually this is around a week after the session when the client would be able to see the photos in their digital format and choose the photos they like for the product deliverables.

    Products:

Photo-products* are not part of the session fee. Our photo-products start at BDT 2,000/- and goes up to what your mind desires (well, almost)!! Our photo products are ready to be hung on the wall or displayed on your desk or to be carried with you anywhere. These are the ultimate outputs that you take away from the sessions that you do with us. We invest time and effort to bring to you some of the most attractive photo products available in Bangladesh. We custom design the products to make them unique. Our innovation is continuous to come up with the most unique photo items. For some business reasons we do not post photos of our products online. So, to learn more about our products, please call us: +880-1711-055524.

*digital photos are more like digital negatives.... you have to process them to see them in their ultimate form... that processing is not done during the session.... the photographer or someone else will give hours behind that effort in digital darkroom... cost of photo products include cost of processing, cost of designing products (which are ready to be hung on the wall or displayed on desktop or printed on the pages of a finished coffee table book), and cost of printing, framing, and other costs..... the photographers give their time and let you get the facilities of a professional studio setup for a session fee (you don't have to spend millions to set it up yourself)

    Location for the Shoot:
    a) We are an on-location photography team. Depending on the theme of the shoot, we may be shooting indoors or outdoors. If we require a studio, we can create one at client's home!
    b) For maternity shoot, safety of the would-be mother is a prime concern.
    c) If more than one location is requested by the client or it is away from client's home, there would be extra cost charged for that. The cost would be added to the usual rates.
    d) If the shooting location is away from client's home, client would provide transportation facilities for them as well as for the Ideas_R_Bulletproof team and their equipment.
    e) If an away-location suggested by client requires some exclusive usage permission, it has to be arranged by client.
    f) If an away location suggested by client requires some permission charge or usage charges, it would be paid by the client.

    Booking and Payment Procedure:
    a) Just go to this link and follow instructions or give us a call at +8801711-055524.

    once in a while....

    22 October 2011
    Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh

motherhood is a once in a while thing for most.... its one of those extraordinary times when a person discovers the biggest gift she got from her creator.... these extraordinary times last for a short while and leave a deep impression.... on last Saturday, we were after some moments that would live in memory and leave a deep impression....

huge thanks to Sadia Sharmin.... Sadia, a very accomplished artist, is one of those people who own the frame.... she had displayed her works of art in well-publicised exhibit... and to aid our effort even further, her exhibit was all about her experiences during her first-time pregnancy.... artists are great subjects with their creations.... they easily create a bonding between the photograph and the viewer.... its almost like subjects within subjects.... their creations not just characterise their creators, but also help the viewer to find the very purpose of the photograph.... its only been a day since I had a first ever session with an artist... now, I have two experiences.... and they are both unique....

as an artist, Sadia's creative help made our photo-shoot doubly effective.... she was full of ideas... her perception about framing and lighting made the session so much easier for us.... and how can I ever forget to give huge thanks to Firoze Bhai for making the couple shots so much more intimate.... their first child, Israar, was a bit on the edge at times, but he was managed, mainly by his Dad.... the group shot was very challenging... it wasn't the perfect one, but it was satisfactory in the end considering the 'availability' of Israar....

on the technical end, the first setup (first three pics) was based on two lights.... control of light was the key here... I used an arch between two rooms to control the spill of light on the back wall... Elinchrom Ranger + 120cm x 50cm Simpex softbox was the key light.... SB-900 + Westcott Apollo 28" softbox was the edge light....

the second setup (next two pics) was a bit more challenging.... used the Ranger as the key light and used an SB-900 with a grid-spot... the photo with Sadia and Israar was done almost instantaneously... and as Israar was much more difficult to manage, I just clicked away as the chance arrived....

the third setup (next six images) was much simpler.... two lights on two sides... Ranger + 120cm x 50cm softbox and SB-900 + Westcott Apollo 28" softbox... the third shot in this setup was the result of the SB-900 not coping up.... it was an accidental discovery, more or less... but the shadows and contrasts created by the one-light setup gave the whole thing a different mood....

    much much more to come....

more of a matter of time....

    10 September 2011
    Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Siffat and Arafat had been great friend of us for a long time...... very frank and opinionated.... and couple of great brains as well.... brilliant students and great friends to us and to each other..... we had been planning this session for quite a while.... ever since we learned the news of Siffat, we we looking forward to this day..... two brilliant brains were bringing another brilliant brain to this earth.... so, it was more a matter of time..... once we were able to manage some holidays, it was set....

the idea was to do some individual frames for Siffat and then to do some couples shoot.... also thought about some conceptual stuff, if possible.... we traveled light for some reason.... so, we needed to be sure what we would do.... we didn't take a black backdrop, so, we needed to improvise for that.... but we did take a white backdrop, which we hung from a window.... a 28" Westcott Apollo and 24" Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe softbox went with us as the main light.... also took a couple of extra lights to light the backdrop.... all in all, 4 speedlites (2x SB-900 and 2x YN-560)... used only one set of Elinchrom Skyport as the trigger and receiver, and the rest of the flashes were in optical trigger more (SB-900 in SU-4 mode and YN-560 in S1 mode)....

the white backdrop stuff were shot with 2 YN-560s on the ground lighting up the backdrop... the Westcott Apollo was the main light for most shots... the Elinchrom Skyport was inside it as its design implied that the flash had to be inside the softbox.... optical trigger modes don't work with it.... when I used a black background, used a second light in a Lastolite 24" Ezybox as hair light.... that was mounted on a Manfrotto monopod and hand-held (sometimes by my wife, and other times by Arafat... volunteering!!).... for the couples shoot with white backdrop, used two softboxes from two sides to illuminate both the subjects.....

the SB-900s go into hibernation, which causes problems regularly.... I have to see whether there is a mechanism to turn off the hibernation thing.... the YN-560s are much better as dumb flashes.... SB-900, as it seems, is too smart for dumb photogs like me!!.... the room was a perfect one for photography.... it was long and helped me to which to a longer lens (70-210mm).... that, in turn, helped me to reduce the required size of the backdrop....

anyway, a lot more coming up in a flash!!

some debts are there for life…..

    01 July 2011

    Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh

some people make their mark on your life only once and you carry that debt for the rest of your life…. but worth the try to pay off some of that debt when you get the chance…. its a small token of gratitude, yet its also an expression of love and care that resulted from the same things you had received once…. this session was one of those that gave me a different kind of satisfaction….

it was also a venture into an untried territory for me…. I had always thought about venturing into that intimate part of life that most people do not even think about documenting…. an expecting mother’s emotions can’t possibly be understood by anyone else… that emotion is hard to record in a photo…. still, its possible to record that transient period, which, in time, can bring out emotions…. time is a very important documentation and there’s nothing better than photography to record time….

from photographic point of view, it was a really nice experience for me…. learned many things, which spawned many new ideas as well…. hoping to build a base on that…. lets see…. had to take a truckload of equipment with me…. the reason being, I had no idea what to expect over there…. what I was certain of, was that it would be an indoor shoot, which made me carry a lot more stuff than a much lighter outdoor shoot…. a bag-full of fabric turned out to be a great ally… I actually ended up using every single piece of white fabric I had in the bag…. I still had the 4′x4′ diffusion panels packed in the bag in case they were needed…. had to work with the confined space that was there on offer…. but there was enough space to flatten perspective with a longer lens, which came in handy, reducing pressure on the limited options with backdrop….

didn’t take the Simpex monolight with me, fearing power interruptions…. the Elinchrom Ranger was the main workhorse behind creating that white backdrop…. two hotshooe softboxes got used and they both performed as expected…. in the end, used a total of three small flashes with the Ranger…. the Westcott Apollo remained in the car as a backup…. though didn’t end up using all the lightstands, its difficult to ignore them… just in case that window option for backdrop setting wasn’t available, I would’ve needed to use two lightstands as backdrop stands….

now, to the shoot…. my first idea was to isolate the subject in a white empty space…. needed some photoshopping to achieve the last output, even though I suck at it…. tried to create as much white space around her as possible…. Ranger + a lotta white fabric did the job…

the next try was with an idea on reflections of time…. that photo album was the key attraction here and wanted to isolate that with a shallow DoF….

the last idea was with the couple…. it was a show of bondage and caring that needed to come out in the picture… we had some nice laugh while doing it…. it was hard for the subjects in front the family members, but the effort paid off…. had to couple of softboxes for this shot to have even exposure on both subject’s faces…

    more to come later…..
